Newcastle University has done extensive work to develop business-relevant MSc-level degree apprenticeships that will drive technological innovation and change in your organisation.
Because of our sector leading expertise in computing and business, the programmes at Newcastle University are uniquely placed to enhance employee skills, improve productivity, and drive innovation. We have three MSc Digital and Technology Solutions apprenticeship programmes available, with intakes starting in September every year:
- Data Analytics Specialism for experienced IT professionals
- Cyber Security Specialism for experienced IT professionals
- Software Engineering Specialism upskilling or reskilling into technical roles

The apprentices will have access to our state-of-the-art facilities in the University’s Urban Sciences Building, on the centrally located Newcastle Helix Site, together with a wealth of online resources, and the University’s library.

Apprenticeships are key to delivering a talent pipeline in crucial roles, allowing us to develop the skills we need for the organisation, both now and in the future.
All three programmes have a strong technical element that will ensure your apprentices will become strong technical experts, who can help boost digital innovation in your business. At the same time, our collaboration with Newcastle University Business School (NUBS) will help apprentices gain vital leadership, change management and innovation skills that will prepare them to become high-calibre, future leaders in your organisation.
Finally, apprentices will undertake a six month project, in the workplace, where they will get the chance to utilise the skills they have gained during the course. The project will typically be part of a bigger project already going on in your organisation, but could also be something completely unique. During this project, apprentices have the support of an academic supervisor, meaning your business benefits from world-class research-expertise during the development of the project.

The funding band for this programme is set by industry at £21,000. This covers the full duration of the programme.
We welcome the opportunity to work with SMEs who have access to government funding or can access funds through their supply chain.
The End Point Assessment (EPA) consists of two components. Firstly, the apprentices will produce a professional portfolio which will be prepared and maintained throughout the duration of the course. Our apprenticeship tutors will support the creation and maintenance of this.
Secondly, at the end of the programme, apprentices will have a professional discussion based on their portfolio and their Capstone project report.
